Jello Biafra has been a big influence on my life recently. His spoken word albums (I think he's up to 8 of them now) are pretty much all dedicated to spreading information that you might not have otherwise heard. While it's sometimes entertaining, his mission is not to entertain. He is an artist on a mission to challenge the listener. He receives news sources from all over the world, often times from very obscure places and I'm not even exactly sure how he does it, but it all comes together in very powerful messages. One of his most-covered topics is of the utmost importance on this album: CENSORSHIP. It sounds like the kind of thing that's saved for the 1950s, but that's if you're to believe that everything they say on the news is true and that we have a "liberal" media. This is really just the tip of the ice berg for his work, I encourage you to go out and buy his albums and become challenged. He cites a lot of his information on the album, so you can even check up on most of the information he presents if you think he's exaggerating or lying. The "Tale From The Trial" segment is in regards to the Dead Kennedys album "Frankenchrist," being put on trial under the recently put-in-place obscenity laws thanks to Tipper Gore and the PMRC. It was the first (and maybe only) album to ever be prosecuted under that law, and he walks you through the entire process from start to finish, and even if you're only mildly interested in underground music it's a fascinating listen.
