The most recent album from one of the longest-running bands in the world. Not only a long-running band, but one constantly making new music and producing consistently good work. This band is impressive on so many levels. This is the line-up that was thrown together after the previous band (that made The Real New Fall LP and Fall Heads Roll) left Mark E. Smith in the middle of a U.S. tour. The tour I saw them on, to be exact. Regarding that, Mark E. Smith said in an interview that the title in full is "Reformation, Post Treacherous Lying Cunts." Don't know if he was joking of not, but probably not. This is, by far, not the band's best work, but not the worst either. It was an album somewhat rushed, which it sounds like, and the band had not really been together very long when they went into the studio. The musicians sound like a rockin' jam band experimenting with The Fall's trademarked style, which brings interesting results, some good and some bad. The mix is also interesting on this, the guitars turned down, the bass turned way up, the keyboards turned down, and the backing vocals becoming fairly prominent. Whether you love or hate this album, it really is a departure from the normal Fall Sound, pun intended, and I appreciate the mere fact that they were going for something new. Highlights include "Fall Sound," "White Line Fever," and "My Door Is Never." Get this album RIGHT HERE!
